GOOD NEWS!!
February 1, 2012 by Don Schuler · Leave a Comment
Since I started my business I have mainly accepted cash and check for payment of services. Once in a while I would have a customer that needed to use a credit card, and could only do that if they had a Paypal account and their card was attached to it. Not anymore!
Schuler Enterprises is proud to announce we have contracted with Inuit (the creators of QuickBooks) to provide credit/debit card processing services. I have a credit card swiper that attaches to my smart-phone and sends the encrypted information for approval. How handy is that!?
With the convenience comes small fees though. Since I’m such a small company, I can’t absorb the fees like major corporations can. To use this option, there will be a 3% fee added to the invoice, or $3 for every $100 charged. Not bad!
I know some are strapped for available cash thanks to the current economy. If you have work you’ve been putting off on your home, get it done now and let me help you. I’m glad to offer this service to my customers.
Thanks to all of you for your support!

Winter Work
January 7, 2012 by Don Schuler · Leave a Comment
It’s time to get your house ready for winter, and I can help you get that done. I’ve already been working on some projects for customers to get everything winterized. One of the biggest losses of heat during the winter is the front door. I’m sure through the constant use of the front door things have gotten out of whack and the warm air is sneaking out! I can come evaluate where the leaks are coming from, and the best way to fix it.
Another loss of energy is through the attic. Quite a few attics are lacking in the amount of insulation needed to keep you warm this winter. I can quickly and easily evaluate how deep your current insulation is, how much more you need, and ensure there is proper airflow from the soffits. Before I put in any new insulation, I’ll go around to each light box and insulate around the seams with spray foam to eliminate even the smallest of heat loss (because heat rises, right!?)
Let me come, DO IT RIGHT, and help you be more comfortable this winter.
Have you kept up with the new laws about light bulbs? I have! Starting in January 2012, standard 100 watt light bulbs we’ve used for years will be phased out and no longer sold in the U.S. Our lawmakers in Washington have decided it’s time to help all of us slowly but surely change our ways to help reduce the amount of energy we use. So what’s next? Time to start using more energy efficient things around our houses! Fluorescent bulb have really come a long way since they started making them, and use a lot less energy. Though they are not compatible with all of our old lamps and fixtures, and definitely not with old dimmers. LED lights are also coming along, but there’s quite a few cons to using them. I can help you determine which bulbs and lamps will work the best for your needs.
While normally work starts to slow for all contractors during the winter months, my business is booming. I have so much work it’s hard to keep up with everything! But let me know what I can do for you to get your projects done. I am in the process of becoming certified with the Better Business Bureau, so all my customers know they can count on me to make things right, keep customers happy and referrals coming. Thanks to you all for your business. I will continue to give you all good service at a very fair price. When it comes to your projects, you know who to count on.
For all your residential construction, handyman and remodel needs.
Happy New Year!
Spring Fever?
March 18, 2011 by Don Schuler · Leave a Comment
Well, I realized a couple of weeks ago I had not posted anything for Winter! Probably because Winter came so fast, and I had so much work on my plate, that it definitely was not at the top of my list to do. So since Spring is almost here, I’ll post a Spring issue. I, for one, have the Spring fever. If it’s anywhere near 40 degrees outside, I’m wearing shorts! I am so ready for it to be nice outside I can’t stand it!
This winter has been very busy. And a change in our home schedule has made jobs even more challenging to get done. But we’re working through it. I just finished a multi-bathroom tile job in a home in Longmont. In the kids bathroom I did just the floor and replaced the countertop the homeowner ordered. In their master bathroom, I replaced the floor tile, the shower tile with several built-in soap shelves, and the tile around their tub. I also replaced the countertop the owner ordered, and helped with new mirrors and lights. It turned out AWESOME! (I’ll put the pictures up under the ‘showcase‘ link soon.)
Given the new schedule at home, I am going to cut back on the number of large jobs I take on (like full basements, large tile jobs, etc) and stick to smaller things that take maybe a week or two to complete. If you’re in need of work and are unsure about a time-line, please contact me directly and we can discuss your project.
Now on to my suggestions!
I have a feeling since it was such a mild winter, we’re going to see warmer weather sooner and last longer this year. Although it’s not at the top of your list at the minute, NOW is the time to buy window and portable air conditioning units! My supplier has just put ALL OF THEIR UNITS on sale. Here’s what I can get:
-
LG Window Air Conditioners,
-
LG Window Combo Heat/Air Conditioners,
and a new brand (actually made by Haier)
-
“Commercial Cool” Window Air or Combo Units
-
Commercial Cool Portable Air or Combo Units also!
I am really psyched about the new options with the window units. Last year I installed a few for people, and while they were happy about being cool in the summer, they weren’t too thrilled about the unit just having to sit unused during the winter. But now with these combo units, you can use them year-round! (And even though they’re named “Commercial Cool”, they’re for residential use). I can get some larger units as well for 240V if you have a larger shop or garage to cool. But let me explain this to you:
NOW IS THE TIME TO BUY A WINDOW A/C IF YOU WANT THE BEST PRICING!
Some units start as low as $120! I have special brackets to use, even if you’re on a second or third story building, and will ensure your window is water-proof no matter what style of window you have.
Send me the size of the room you want to cool and I’ll tell you what size of unit you need. Then tell me if you want one with the heat option too, and I’ll be over to get it in fast, efficient, and at the best price of the entire year!
Also, don’t forget to have me come clean out your gutters if you didn’t get it done this fall. The spring rains will be a-comin, and it’ll be a disaster if the gutters are full. I have already had one call from a customer that gutter has a leak and has been peeling the paint from his house. I can fix those problems too!
So get your list together of all the things that have needed to be done over the winter, hit the “contact” button at the top of the page, and tell me what you’ve got! I’ll make sure to get those projects done for you so you’ll have more free time to enjoy the spring weather!!
Have a great Spring….
Fall Projects
November 21, 2010 by Don Schuler · Leave a Comment
Fall is upon us, and the winter weather will quickly be here too!
Do you have everything done around your house before it gets too cold? I’ve already been getting requests to clean gutters and fix some leaks, exterior carpentry repair and sealing, and weather strips around doors and windows. Sound familiar to you? Now’s the time to get that stuff fixed before the snow starts.
Did you know…..
- Gutters full of leaves that get packed down with rain and snow can cause not only leaks, but worse problems if that water ruins the wood or your siding.
- Lots of cold air is allowed in around places you don’t know about. I can help you determine where the leaks are coming from and get them sealed up to save you lots of money this winter.
- Having a programmable thermostat can also reduce your energy bills by allowing you to turn down the heat when you’re not home, but have it nice and toasty just before you arrive. I’ll install one and show you how easy it can be.
- By using your ceiling fan in reverse mode, it helps re-distribute the heat sitting near the ceiling back into the room and reduces the amount of heat you have to pour into the house to stay warm. Want to replace a plain light with a ceiling fan? I’ve had several requests recently, so get on the list to get it done!
- Have a gas fireplace? Turn off the pilot and don’t use it!! Unless you have a blower on it to help distribute the heat, or it’s an extremely small room, it costs waaaay more to run those than to just turn up the heat on the furnace! I’ll be glad to talk with you more about it, or help you turn off the pilot. Just call!
No matter your project this fall, I’ll be glad to help you with all of your needs. Usually around this time of year business starts to slow down a little. Not here! I’m still booking at least several weeks in advance. (And actually I’m in to the 2nd week of December as of this writing.)
Fill out the contact form or call today. I will make it a priority to get over to look at your project and get you scheduled as soon as possible.
Also, scroll down to the bottom of the page and read the important information about Carbon Monoxide alarms. I have recently installed over 25 new alarms in people’s houses to keep their families safe. Don’t wait to make sure you are safe too.
Enjoy your fall!
Summer Projects

Summer is Here!
Gettin’ Hot Yet? I have your summer project ideas right here to keep you cool inside and let me do the sweatin’!
I have had lots of calls for window air conditioning units. It’s a great way to cool a particular room that is warmer than others during the summer, or cool a larger portion of your house if you don’t have a central AC unit. There are so many to choose from, so let me help you figure out which size you need for the square footage you need to cool. And contrary to popular belief, many window AC units these days aren’t as energy sucking as they used to be. In fact, most of the ones I’ve installed have actually been Energy Star certified! They are also quite reasonably priced.
Don’t fight the summer heat – stay cool and comfortable! I’ll be glad to give you a same day quote when you call or email me.
It’s also that time of year to be spending plenty of time outside with friends and family. Is your deck ready for the traffic? Are there lots of splinters and it hasn’t seen any stain or sealer in years? Let’s do it! I’ve got several planned to completely re-sand, re-stain and re-seal. And it’s much cheaper to do some maintenance on it now than to have to tear it all out and redo it! We can also power wash and re-stain if you prefer.
And don’t forget about the structural stability! Let us check our your loose, creaky or warped boards to make sure no one gets hurt while enjoying the summer on your deck. We can also fix your warped handrails and top rails.
Did you clean your gutters earlier in the spring? Have you noticed them running over or worse – water damage on your soffits? Let me get up there and get that flowing correctly to reduce the chances of damage to your home. We can even install some protective barriers over the gutters to greatly reduce the amount of debris that builds up year-round. Already have damage? Let me come assess what needs to be replaced and repaired to keep it from getting worse!
One last idea to make your house look great this summer: Spiff up your front door! I will take the door off, give it a good scrubbing with soap and water, sand as needed, and put a fresh coat of paint on it. It’s amazing how inviting a good looking front door can be to your friends and family! We can touch-up the paint around the trim and jamb too so it will look like you have a brand new front door!
Of course this is only a few ideas to get you thinking about what you need around the house this summer. Check out my (almost) all-inclusive list of services we provide, and of course the new “Remodel Ideas” page. There will be more added soon, so add your email address at the top of the page and stay apprised of specials and new additions! Thanks for reading and enjoy your summer!!

Garbage Disposal Special – Reduced Pricing!
May 13, 2009 by Don Schuler · Leave a Comment
ATTENTION LONGMONT HOMEOWNERS!
We have found recently that lots of people are calling about stopped up sinks because their disposer isn’t functioning correctly. A lot of home builders installed the bottom of the line disposers to save money. You can buy one for about $50. But don’t put anything larger than a peanut down there, or you’ll be calling me! Most have stopped grinding lately, stopping up lots of sinks. It’s nasty when that happens. The water sits in there (and more of it than you think), begins to stink, and the entire trap under the sink has to be removed to relase the debris and water.
Fix the problem before this happens to you quickly & easily!
We can install a new disposer in your home in about an hour!
I JUST REDUCED THE PRICE OF THE UNITS! I CAN MATCH HOME DEPOT’S PRICING!!!

WHY YOU NEED A NEW DISPOSER:
-
Most of the inexpensive models in our homes are a single stage grinder
-
After just a few years, that single stage grinder begins to wear out
-
It begins to just ‘shred’ your food instead of actually grind it
-
When it’s only shredded, it makes it harder for the food to make it down the drain lines, usually causing a stopped up sink
-
They’re loud and annoying
-
The internal components on older models begin to rust and deteriorate, causing smells and bacteria build-up
WHAT THE NEW MODELS OFFER:
-
The Evolution Compact and Essential offer 2-stage grinding (means your food goes through two actual grinders inside the unit to ensure it’s in small enough pieces)
-
The Evolution Excel offers a 3-stage grinding process
-
All come with the enhanced vibration reduction technology
-
You will not believe your ears at how quiet these models are
-
“When I went to turn on the disposer after Don replaced ours, I wasn’t sure it was actually on or working correctly because of how quiet this thing is! My husband couldn’t believe it either!” – Crys, Boulder
-
We can have the new one installed for you quickly and professionally
-
Check it out yourself! http://insinkerator.com/excel/grind_more_hear_less.shtml
contact us to get your slot scheduled soon.
AND!!
For the next 6 months, I will offer no over-time charges to come over in the evenings after you get home from work to do the install! That’s right! No overtime through the end of June!!!! Click the contact button now to get that done and cross it off your honey-do list!
